Telling Real Stories With Microsoft

Microsoft_logo

Client: Microsoft

Project Title: Innovation Awards – Asia

BACKGROUND

Microsoft has long been a brand that pushes innovation. Across Asia, the company has numerous initiatives to inspire and support young tech entrepreneurs and gives awards to honour their work. In Thailand, they helped fund and support an ingenious app called Wheel-Go-Round, an online information hub for wheelchair-accessible attractions, hotels, and restaurants.

BRIEF

Microsoft teamed up with Click2View to create content to help align their brand with innovative technology start-ups in Southeast Asia. It was our job to create a story to show how the Wheel-Go-Round app is changing lives for the better, and how Microsoft is helping champion the next generation of tech entrepreneurs.

The app helps wheelchair users navigate the treacherous and congested streets of Bangkok by suggesting routes, wheelchair-friendly facilities, as well as parking and locations where ramps and rails can make life easier.

RESPONSE

Seeing an opportunity for Microsoft to make some great content, our multimedia journalists tracked down Noppadol Wannaborworn, the inspirational captain of Thailand’s wheelchair basketball team. In our short video and accompanying feature article, we heard first-hand about the struggles wheelchair users face in the capital and how the app makes life easier.

Noppadol turned his life around through basketball after his accident and he actively tries to help other wheelchair users in Thailand find inspiration by getting involved in sport. A great character and a man with an incredibly positive message, he was a great focus for the story, appealing to a wide audience across Asia.

This is an example of Click2View’s journalistic approach – we find people with stories to tell, whatever country they are in. We realised that Microsoft’s drive to help sponsor innovation could only be told by real people who benefit from using the technology each day.

OUTCOME

The film was a resounding success with the client and has been used at various events to promote Microsoft’s youth entrepreneur initiatives.
